“
The pre-eminent virtue of any culture is to talk about its own people to its own
people, to talk him about its roots, of its present and future…(…) Without
any circulation of works, there is a silence on them. There is nothing worth or
hardly that creation expresses itself if it doesn’t have real chances of being
spread…”

How
to overcome all obstacles hampering the spread of African Creation ?
Roughly
it’s this question that we, undertakers, creators, Institutions and cultural
broadcasters should answer. So far experiences like “Afrique en Création”
(France) or other Institutions from northern countries have only made easy
contacts, exchanges of ideas, setting
of small economic channels. What is obviously
a colossal work. But insufficient. Not to mention that administrative and
governmental usual obligations which these same Institutions meant to be
emancipated from. It’s because of these experiences that we now talk of Luanda
, Tananarivo, Grand-Bassam, Bamako, Yaounde, Dakar. At the time of recent
meetings of Lilles organized by the French Minister of Foreign Affairs, moreover
someone will talk about “collisions artistiques majeures” ( “major
artistic collisions” ), with reference to these events. But it is known that
these events are an opportunity to testify the acuteness of imagination
and the endemic poverty of means creation. Then we must settle to work to
give to African creation the necessary renown.
